Contract Vehicles

8(a) Advantage :  The Right Team - Low Risk and High Value Team

The 8(a) sole source vehicle provides agencies a simplified and shortened acquisition procedure.

  • Procurement process is simplified and accelerated, reducing the decision and award cycle time to months, not years
  • Direct negotiation provides the best value to the government and lowering administration costs.
  • Awards cannot be protested.

Subcontracting: The 8(a) program allows 8(a) contractors to expand their scope of services by contracting to non‐8(a) firms. The 8(a) firm must perform at least 50% of the total contract value. This allows to the 8(a) firm to expand its scope of service by teaming with other qualified firms. 

8(a) Sole Source Process

  1. Decision is reached to sole source  to LightHouse Data, LLC
  2. Intent to Award letter with description of project is sent to the LightHouse Data SBA Representative by Contracting Officer or Specialist
  3. SBA reviews project and makes determination that LightHouse Data is capable of performing work.
  4. SBA sends letter of acceptance to Contracting Officer.
  5. KO informs LightHouse Data and agency that they may now enter into negotiations and/or joint development of project plan.
  6. Once mutually acceptable terms are negotiated contract is awarded.
